Flap Surgery

In cases where the root surfaces are exposed after gum recession, and both cleanability and esthetics are negatively affected, the relevant areas can be treated with either adjacent soft tissue or tissue transferred from another area. In cases where the teeth appear longer with the root surface visible, dark spaces formed due to gum recession, areas that are not possible to clean and are much more prone to tartar formation can be treated by shifting the adjacent gum tissue to that area.

In some cases where advanced tissue loss is observed, mobility (shaking) of the teeth is observed, and the duration of the teeth in the mouth is questionable, a “free gingival graft” transferred from another area is applied to the relevant area and the life of the teeth can be extended thanks to regular follow-ups.
