Adhesive (Maryland) Bridge

It is a type of restorations that are applied in areas where there is a single tooth missing, sometimes without any abrasion or minimal abrasion on the adjacent teeth, and is used to rehabilitate the missing tooth area by bonding it only to the back surfaces of the adjacent teeth. Especially in the front region, in order not to prepare the adjacent teeth unnecessarily after the congenital or acquired absence of relatively small teeth such as the lateral teeth, ceramic, composite and acrylic teeth are sometimes applied to the relevant area as temporary and sometimes permanent restoration by preparing small slots only on their back surfaces.

In cases where the patient is not wanted to leave the clinic without replacement after tooth extraction, they can be applied with the support of materials such as fiber splint or by placing and bonding a ceramic tooth prepared in the laboratory before/after extraction to the back (lingual) surfaces of the neighboring teeth. In this way, the need for implants can be eliminated and the enamel and dentin tissues of the neighboring teeth are not damaged as in the construction of bridges.
